Two Years of War on Gaza: A Continuing Tragedy in Numbers Revealing the Scale of Destruction and Suffering

Blogs | 10-10-2025

The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has entered its second year, leaving behind a horrifying humanitarian scene that reflects the magnitude of the tragedy endured by more than two million Palestinians under continuous bombardment and siege.

The brutal onslaught has claimed the lives of 67,173 Palestinians, including 20,179 children, 10,427 women, and 4,813 elderly people, in addition to 31,754 men.

It has also resulted in 169,780 people being injured with varying degrees of severity, leaving thousands of families struggling with the pain of loss and permanent disabilities.

Moreover, the Israeli assault has caused the displacement of over 2,100,000 Palestinians within the Strip, after they lost their homes and livelihoods — one of the largest displacement waves witnessed in the Palestinian territories in decades.

Starvation and dire humanitarian conditions have also led to the deaths of 460 people, including 154 children, while 51,196 children under the age of five suffer from acute malnutrition as a result of the blockade and the suspension of food and medical aid.

According to the Gaza Government Media Office, Israeli occupation forces kill 18 students and one teacher every day, turning schools into arenas of death and making education a distant dream amid relentless bombardment.

The crimes have not only targeted lives but also homes — 367 housing units are destroyed daily, leaving 394 families without shelter each day and thousands of Palestinians exposed to the cold of night and the heat of day without a roof to protect them.

The report also noted that the Israeli occupation demolishes more than one mosque per day, targets shelter and displacement centers every three days, and destroys central water wells daily, exacerbating the water crisis and making access to clean drinking water a daily struggle for survival.

In terms of infrastructure, the report revealed that the Israeli occupation destroys around 7 kilometers of power networks, 959 meters of water and sewage pipelines, and 4,000 meters of roads every day, severely restricting civilian movement and hampering the delivery of humanitarian aid to devastated areas.

These daily figures reveal a systematic policy of civilian annihilation and impoverishment of the Palestinian people, as the Gaza Strip has turned into a landscape of ruin and perpetual loss, while the international community remains unable to provide adequate support for relief and reconstruction.

This ongoing suffering stands as a testament to a humanitarian catastrophe unseen in the region for decades, with warnings that if the Israeli aggression continues into a third year—should the latest ceasefire and agreement be violated—it could lead to an even greater disaster, posing an unprecedented threat to the lives of Palestinian civilians.
