The Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms is closely following, with deep concern, the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, where over two million people are being subjected to a systematic starvation campaign—one of the most heinous forms of collective violations witnessed by the modern world.
The organization affirms, based on reports from international bodies such as Oxfam and the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, that the famine in Gaza is not a natural consequence of conflict, but rather a deliberate and planned policy being used as an alternative weapon in an ongoing genocide since October 2023.
For over two months, Israel has imposed a complete blockade, preventing the entry of food, water, and medicine, while leaving thousands of aid trucks to rot at border crossings.
The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification report indicates that this brutal siege is pushing the situation in Gaza beyond famine thresholds within the next five months, amidst a severe shortage of basic supplies and direct targeting of vital infrastructure and shelter centers.
The use of starvation as a weapon of war against civilians, including children and the elderly, not only constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, but also poses a direct threat to the entire international legal order—especially in light of Israel’s continued impunity.
The Insan Organization calls on the international community—governments and peoples alike—to shoulder their legal and moral responsibilities, to do everything in their power to stop this ongoing crime, ensure the immediate and unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid, and protect the fundamental rights to life, food, and health for the people of Gaza.
