U.S. warplanes continue to carry out intense airstrikes on several Yemeni provinces, in a serious escalation that threatens to expand the scope of war in the region.
Field sources reported that the provinces of Sana'a, Sa'dah, Dhamar, Al-Bayda, Marib, and Hajjah have been subjected to a series of violent air raids since the early hours of Saturday evening, directly targeting civilian and residential areas, causing extensive destruction to neighborhoods and vital service facilities.
According to preliminary reports, more than 39 people have been killed or injured in Sana'a and Sa'dah alone, most of them women and children. The toll is expected to rise as bombing continues and victims are still being pulled from the rubble.
Sources confirmed that the U.S. airstrikes have caused severe damage to residential buildings, public infrastructure, and essential services, prompting several families to flee the targeted areas.
Meanwhile, the U.S. military has officially announced the continuation of its operations in areas under the control of the Sana'a-based government, justifying the attacks by claiming to target specific sites, despite the fact that most casualties so far have been civilians.
For its part, the “Insan” Organization for Rights and Freedoms condemned the airstrikes, describing them as a full-fledged war crime and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which prohibits targeting civilians and residential areas.
The organization called on the international community to urgently intervene to stop the assaults and protect Yemeni civilians from the U.S. war machine, which shows no distinction between military and civilian targets.
Explosions are still being heard in several targeted Yemeni provinces, amid fears of further escalation that could increase the death toll in the coming hours.
