The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) issued an urgent statement today, strongly condemning the Israeli entity’s decision to delay the release of a group of Palestinian prisoners, considering it a blatant violation of the agreed-upon terms.
The statement read: "The enemy’s claims that the prisoner handover ceremonies are humiliating are baseless excuses aimed at evading commitments. These ceremonies contain no offense to the prisoners but rather reflect a dignified humanitarian approach, which starkly contrasts with the harsh reality our prisoners endure in occupation prisons."
The movement pointed out that the real humiliation lies in the repressive practices prisoners face during the release process, including physical and psychological torture, systematic beatings, and deliberate humiliation up until the final moments before their release.
Hamas held Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for obstructing the agreement process through his manipulative decisions, describing the move as a deliberate attempt to undermine diplomatic efforts and prolong the suffering of the prisoners and their families. The statement added: "This violation once again confirms the occupying entity’s lack of seriousness in fulfilling its commitments."
In its statement, the movement called on international mediators and the global community to assume their moral and legal responsibilities and take effective action to stop Israel’s stalling tactics. Hamas urged tangible pressure to force the enemy to release the prisoners immediately, without delays or excessive conditions.
