The United Nations has evacuated one of its staff members who was injured in the Israeli airstrikes on Sana’a Airport.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated in a post on his account on “X” platform on Friday: “Today, we successfully evacuated our colleague from the World Food Programme (WFP), who was injured in yesterday’s attack on Sana’a Airport in Yemen, to Jordan.”
He added that the injured staff member arrived in the Jordanian capital, Amman, accompanied by the UN delegation, where he will receive further medical treatment.
While expressing his appreciation for the UN Humanitarian Air Service team for their swift evacuation of the injured staff member and the UN delegation, Ghebreyesus emphasized the need to halt attacks on civilians and humanitarian workers everywhere.
It is worth noting that the delegation, headed by WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus, had arrived in Sana’a on Tuesday and survived the Israeli airstrikes as they were preparing to depart from Sana’a Airport.
