Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemns, in the harshest terms, the statements made by the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, in which he spoke dismissively about Israel’s “right to control the Middle East.” Such dangerous rhetoric directly contradicts the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and constitutes a blatant infringement on the sovereignty of states and the rights of the peoples of the region.

These statements, which imply acceptance of the occupation’s control over Arab territories, including the West Bank, represent a clear and explicit violation of international conventions and treaties that affirm the territorial integrity of states and prohibit the acquisition of land by force. They also disregard the inherent right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to restore their fully sovereign and independent state on their land.

The Organization affirms that justifying control or expansion under any pretext, including claims of a religious or ideological nature, constitutes rhetoric that fuels conflict, undermines prospects for peace, and provides political cover for the ongoing practices of occupation—openly defying international will and relevant United Nations resolutions.

At Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms, we consider such statements not as a mere slip of the tongue, but as a dangerous indicator of an approach that seeks to normalize the logic of domination and the imposition of faits accomplis by force.

Accordingly, we call upon the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities in confronting any rhetoric or policy aimed at legitimizing occupation or undermining state sovereignty.

We also urge Arab and Islamic countries to elevate their positions to meet the gravity of the current challenge and to take effective, practical steps that go beyond statements of condemnation, in defense of national sovereignty and the protection of peoples’ rights—foremost among them the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.

The dignity of nations is not subject to bargaining, and the rights of peoples cannot be reduced to passing remarks. Our position will remain steadfast in rejecting any attempt to reshape the region through the logic of force and domination.
