The Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemns the crimes committed by U.S. forces this evening against civilians in Hodeidah and other provinces in Yemen.
U.S. warplanes targeted the Amin Moqbel residential neighborhood in Al-Hawak District of Hodeidah City, resulting in four martyrs and 13 injuries, including women and children. The attacks also destroyed homes and civilian facilities. Additionally, U.S. airstrikes targeted the telecommunications network in Amran Governorate, completely destroying it, while further strikes in Sanaa Governorate caused extensive property damage and endangered civilian lives.
These violations constitute a blatant breach of international laws and conventions, including those related to the protection of civilians during armed conflict, particularly:
The First Additional Protocol (1977) to the Geneva Conventions of 1949, which prohibits indiscriminate attacks or those likely to cause excessive harm to civilian life and property.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which guarantees the right to life, personal security, and protection from military assaults.
The Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, which forbids targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The organization expresses its strong condemnation of these aggressive attacks that target and endanger civilians, and calls on the international community to act immediately to put an end to these crimes that violate the most basic human rights.
We affirm that such actions represent political and military thuggery that threatens international peace and security. The international community must urgently intervene to pressure the United States to halt its ongoing assaults.
