Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemns the American-Israeli aggression targeting Yemeni territories, which resulted in the destruction of the Haziz Central Power Station in Sanhan District through 13 airstrikes. These strikes led to the injury of three civilians, including a worker at the station, and caused damage to several homes in surrounding areas.
The organization also denounces the airstrikes that targeted the vicinity of Al-Sabeen Square in the capital, Sana’a, during a peaceful gathering of demonstrators protesting against the continued genocidal crimes committed by the Israeli entity against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. These strikes disregarded the presence of peaceful crowds, constituting a blatant violation of human rights and civilian safety.
The organization is deeply concerned about the series of airstrikes that hit the ports of Hodeidah and Ras Issa, resulting in the death of one employee, multiple injuries, and extensive material damage. Additionally, the ongoing attacks on Amran Governorate exacerbate the suffering of the Yemeni people and further complicate the already dire humanitarian situation in the country.
From a legal perspective, Insan Organization affirms that these attacks represent a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, particularly regarding the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure as stipulated in the Geneva Conventions.
Targeting vital facilities such as power stations and ports, in addition to bombing areas where civilians are peacefully protesting, constitutes a gross breach of the right to life and personal safety and qualifies as a war crime under international law.
The organization calls on the international community, including the United Nations and international courts, to assume their responsibilities in holding those responsible for these violations accountable and to take decisive steps to ensure such crimes against innocent people are not repeated.
Insan Organization reiterates its call for the urgent need for a firm international stance to halt the American-Israeli aggression on Yemen, which threatens to drag the region into a broader war with catastrophic consequences for the peoples of the world.
