Including Insan Organization for Rights and Freedoms, 115 human rights organizations and networks condemn the American-British aggression against Yemen.

Condemnation | 18-01-2024

The undersigned human rights organizations express their extreme astonishment and astonishment at Security Council Resolution No. 2722, which was adopted by the Council on 1/10/2024, in which the Council condemned the measures taken by the Yemeni army to respond to the crimes of the occupying entity and apartheid against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Which came as a result of the failure of the Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities to maintain international peace and security and put an end to the crimes of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the occupying entity in full view of the countries of the whole world. Human rights organizations remind the Security Council that (13) of its member states voted on 12/8/2023 in favor of a draft resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, and the draft fell due to the American veto against it, in addition to the fact that the United Nations General Assembly had previously voted With a majority of 153 countries in favor of a recommendation calling for a ceasefire.

The United States of America employed Resolution 2722 to launch aggressive attacks against Yemen because of its movement in the name of the international community to protect a public interest of the international community, which is to prohibit the crime of genocide and prevent its commission. The non-military countermeasures taken by Yemen to impose a naval blockade on the Israeli entity are aimed at pressuring it to stop its international crimes, especially since the international community and the United Nations failed to do so.

The countermeasures taken by Yemen find their basis in the articles on the responsibility of states for non-military and internationally legitimate acts, which require states to cooperate in order to put an end to a situation that includes a serious violation of a peremptory international norm. In addition, the aforementioned articles sanction countermeasures against any international breach of obligations that are binding on all. Or a general decision in the general interest of the international community. Yemen has only resorted to military measures as an exception, and in principle it has taken pressure measures to impose a siege on the Israeli entity until it stops its crimes. The use of non-military measures came as a result of the paralysis of the international community and the Security Council in ending the commission of these massacres and atrocities. It is not legally and morally acceptable for countries to remain spectators to crimes that are unprecedented in contemporary history. The issue is not a matter of positive legitimacy as much as it is a matter of international legitimacy.

The signatory human rights organizations believe that Security Council Resolution No. 2722 and the Anglo-Saxon aggression carried out by the American-British arm would undermine the foundations of the contemporary international legal system, but rather contradict peremptory rules in international law, and states must condemn that aggression and stand up to it out of concern for the requirements of legality. International law and to maintain the pivotal pillars and foundations of the contemporary international law system.

Based on the above, the undersigned human rights organizations condemn the American-British aggression against Yemen and consider it a violation of Yemen’s sovereignty on the one hand and a continuation of the aggression announced by Washington on March 26, 2015, in addition to being an aggression that contributes with all its military, diplomatic, media and intelligence capabilities as a partner of the occupation and apartheid entity in the war. Genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and aims to divert attention from what is going on in the corridors of the International Court of Justice and obscure the occupation forces’ continuation of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Human rights organizations express their confidence in the ability of the Yemeni people to defeat the goals of this brutal aggression, and continue to support the struggle of the Palestinian people to stop the Israeli aggression and lift the ongoing siege imposed on the Palestinian people in Gaza since 2005.

Finally, the organizations call on all free people in the world to condemn this American-British aggression against Yemen, which threatens global peace and security.
